Autumn
October is an important month in our calendar. It marks the Autumn Equinox, a time when day and night are of equal length, symbolizing a balance in nature. It also heralds the arrival of Samhain, a festival marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter. The days are getting cooler but still mostly bright, the nights longer and cosy, and the changing countryside looks beautiful.
This bank holiday weekend will be full of the usual Halloween shenanigans, but here are 3 specific things we know will probably happen this weekend, and we are happy with them: a family gathering, some hot chocolate indulgence, and a chocolate-tasting extravaganza.
The Joy of Shared Cracking
One evening this weekend, we will get together with our brothers, our sisters, and their children. It will be loud and busy and involve an evening of eating together and sipping wine. Because we know this will likely happen, we will also have our 500g winter-sharing slabs in the house. We will probably have them in two flavours: Dark chocolate for those who love robust chocolate and milk chocolate or white chocolate for those who want something sweet. As our meal winds down, get ready for a smashing good time with the Hammers of Joy! It's time to crack, share, and savour those iconic Frosty Walks and Winter Nights flavours. Could this be the first sneak peek of Christmas magic?
Hot Chocolate Cravings
We will feel the urge for a great hot chocolate. This is a weekend where Cadburys won't cut it. We will be looking for something intensely chocolatey, silky and smooth. We will have a 500g or a 1kg pouch of Classic Hot Chocolate in the cupboard. Classic because we can play with this flavour, adding fresh mint for a peppermint hot chocolate, a pinch of cinnamon for something warm or a pinch of chilli for a kick of heat. If you don't have a giant, pillowy marshmallow to torch, top your hot chocolate with a mountain of whipped cream. This can be flavoured with fresh cardamom, cinnamon or nutmeg. You could even add a dash of something more robust, like whisky, rum, or a smoky mezcal.
Stock up on Selection Boxes
We're making sure that everyone feels catered to this weekend. That's why we'll have a Bean and Goose Selection Box of bars in the house, perfect for both the grown-ups and the kids with grown-up tastes. We'll have a selection of milk and dark chocolate bars from our range of classic Irish flavours for everyone to enjoy. And for those with dietary restrictions, we have vegan and nut-free options.
We wish you a weekend of friendship, family, beautiful food and delicious chocolate.
